Kora master Seckou Keita is a firm favourite of team Folk by the Oak, having thrilled our audiences as a solo performer, in collaboration with Catrin Finch and as part of the Spell Songs band. We are always intrigued and delighted by his musical ventures, and when we heard about his band Homeland our ears really pricked up!

The group includes one of Senegal’s best-known vocalists, N’Dyeye Korka Dieng, and Moustapha Ngaye, lead guitarist for Youssou n’Dour, plus an array of exceptional talent in the form of Dialy Kemo Cissokho (Percussion & Backing Vocals), Moussa N’Gom (Keyboard and sampling), Ernest Basse (Keyboards), Mouctar N’Diongue (Drum kit, Drum Pad & Backing Vocals), Modou Gueye (Bass), Suntou Susso (Percussion) and Binta Suso (Backing vocals).

Homeland the album will be released in 2024, binding Seckou’s masterful kora playing with the dynamic, uplifting and at times hypnotic rhythms of bass, percussion, drums, keyboard and extraordinary vocals. And Homeland at Folk by the Oak promises a set that will have you on your feet and leave you buzzing!
