Back in 2013, when Catrin and Seckou first came together with the resulting rapturous debut release Clychau Dibon, we quite simply fell in love with this sublime pairing of Welsh harpist Catrin and Senegalese kora player Seckou. We were thrilled when they agreed to join us on stage at Folk by the Oak 2014, and their performance was hailed by our audience as completely mesmerising.
The critically acclaimed and multi award-winning duo have continued to grow their reputation for delivering stunning live performances of world-class musicianship, and we are among the many who are delighted that they are releasing a long awaited second album, SOAR, in April this year.
The album takes flight on the wings of the osprey, the magnificent bird of prey recently returned to Wales after centuries of absence. The osprey makes an annual 3,000-mile migration from the coasts of West Africa to the estuaries of Wales, making it the perfect muse for this acclaimed duo and resulting in an album of remarkable, entrancing, intricate and enthralling music that we can’t wait to share with you at Folk by the Oak this year.
