Since hearing their eponymous debut album in October 17 we've been keeping a keen eye on talented brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn. Ye Vagabonds comprised harmony rich folk music, influenced by Irish traditional music, Appalachian singing, and 1960's folk revival, creating a thoughtful, layered album of distinctive and mellow tracks.
The brothers hail from Southern Ireland and their second album The Hare’s Lament (released on River Lea Records in March 19 to critical acclaim) is richly woven with Irish folklore and traditions, and yet Ye Vagabonds have again created something unique and distinct to them. Their minimalistic, haunting take on classic ballad The Foggy Dew deservedly claimed Best Traditional Track at the Radio 2 Folk Awards this year.
Whether you prefer your folk music trad or original, we would urge you to catch this set at Folk by the Oak.
