Salt House

Salthouse 2019 Row of Faces wide-1.jpg

A collaboration of writing and song from 3 of Scotland's foremost performers; Jenny Sturgeon, Ewan MacPherson (Fribo, Shooglenifty) and Lauren MacColl (RANT), Salt House have a rare ability to pair traditional songs with exceptional contemporary songwriting.

Renowned for creating new songs that sound as if they’ve always been here, Salt House breathe fresh life into ancient ballads and gift tunes to poems that have long cried out for music.

From their highly accomplished Undersong (2018) to their latest album Huam (2020) Salt House travels through themes of place, politics, landscape and (thanks to Sturgeons fascination with all things avian) birds.

Expect echoes of Pentangle, a touch of Dick Gaughan, murmurs of Scandinavian and Scots, all woven into music, and a set that showcases the group’s meticulous attention to detail, shared passions and deep care for their craft.

a trio of exceptional talent
