May 2021 Festival Update

Line-up 2021.jpg

Folk by the Oak update 11/5/21 - Just 10 weeks to go!

While we are heartened by the recent news on lockdown easing, in order to ensure we can host our festival safely we have to remain cautious. We can assure you that the FBTO team are working hard behind the scenes to bring you a safe and superb festival this July.

We’re really excited that so many of our 2020 line-up are joining us this year in what, for many of them, will be their first festival performance since 2019!

And we’re thrilled to announce a new addition to the line-up: The Young’uns are a Teeside trio with a rare ability to combine the art of storytelling, perfect harmonies and sparkling wit. Their upbeat set is sure to get everyone in the festival spirit!

It will be a true delight to be back in our familiar leafy parkland sharing in the joy of REAL live music again and we absolutely cannot wait.

Of course we understand that some ticket holders may not feel comfortable attending the festival this year, in which case please get in touch with us by 31 May to either carry your tickets over to 2022 or request a refund. This will allow us time to resell your tickets.

Festival Safety

So many things are changing around us just now, and it’s been a very challenging time for all festival organisers, who usually like to arrange everything a long way ahead! This year’s planning has been all about adapting and using what we know to try to make our event as magical as ever whilst also keeping everyone safe.

Hopefully you’ll all be familiar with our planned Covid-19 safety measures which we set out at the time of booking / swapping your tickets for this year. You can find more info on this on our Covid-19 webpage.

Our main safety principle is to allow everyone plenty of space so that you can enjoy the music and activities whilst feeling safe and relaxed.

In order to achieve this we’re reducing the audience capacity to approximately half what we would normally expect, and increasing the size of the festival site, making it as easy as possible to maintain a safe distance from your fellow festival-goers wherever you are on site.

Acorn Stage

With this in mind we have had to review the performance timings and how we alternate the sets throughout the day between our Main Stage and the smaller Acorn Stage. Whilst we can ensure that social distancing remains possible when we have a largely ‘static’ audience with a few people visiting stalls and facilities in their own time, having such a large number of people moving between stages at the same time will unfortunately present us with a challenge.

We are proposing, therefore, to combine both line-ups and bring our amazing Acorn Stage artists over to a beefed-up, jam-packed Main Stage line-up instead! So you can sit back and settle in to enjoy your entire stellar Folk by the Oak line-up from your spot for the day, getting those all-important close-ups of the action on our new larger big-screen.

This change is something that we will continue to assess, and if we believe that we can put in both stages safely then that is certainly a possibility. Keep an eye on your inbox, as we’ll be in touch with all ticket bookers closer to the time to confirm exactly how the festival will look

Print Your Tickets!

Please make sure that you have printed your tickets ready to bring with you on the day.

If you have not yet done so, or you are unable to locate your ticket email, please click on the link below to have your tickets re-sent straight to your inbox:

And don’t forget that whilst our guests aged under 5 remain free of charge, this year they will need a ticket to enter. If you are planning to bring a child under 5 years old and they don't yet have a ticket, please get in touch with us so that we can arrange one for them.

And now for a reminder of what we missed last year and what we are ALL so looking forward to this year!
