Tyde

Tyde Folk Band
Biography

A major hit of the 2010 Summer Festivals (including Cambridge, Sidmouth and Big Session) Tyde are back in 2011 with the same class and an even bigger sound.

Touted by BBC Radio 2’s Mike Harding as “The best young band I’ve heard in years” it’s the mixture of raw energy, prodigious musical ability and clever, fresh arrangements that make Tyde something different. They play blazing tunes on fiddle, accordion and driving rhythmic guitar, big vamping bass and a unity of playing rarely seen on the live music scene.

As Finalists in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards their mesmerising performances of dynamic, fresh and quite brilliantly played sets captured the hearts of the live and broadcast audience. With music that draws on influences from every corner of the British Isles and beyond they deliver modern, punchy, danceable tunes, carefully arranged songs and intricate, emotional slow sets.

“The musicianship on this album is stunning.......perfection” - The Living Tradition

“These young musicians have created something very special........... Brilliant head turning musicianship” - Shire Folk

“Slick musicianship coupled with a warm and lively stage show confirms their place as rising starts in the folk firmament. Rightful comparisons with Lau” - Songlines

“Put simply, three-piece Tyde’s eponymous first album is amazing. Makes me want to stop what I’m doing and dance around on the spot” - Acoustic Magazine

“A superb young band with real musical talent who proved a big hit with our audience” - Peter Chegwyn - Organiser, Wickham Festival

“Tyde continue to impress with their energy and commitment, interestingly they drew a bigger crowd than Lau who were in a similar slot on the Saturday” - Spiral Earth at Ely Festival
