Three of Scotland’s most successful young musicians unite with the radiant tones of Heidi Talbot for this special performance.
As the old adage goes, if you want something done, ask someone busy. And if you want to hear some of the freshest, savviest, sweetest and most original song writing around, look no further than three of the busiest musicians in Scotland in cahoots as a trio: Kris Drever, John McCusker and Roddy Woomble. Add to this Heidi Talbot’s achingly bittersweet, spun-gold voice and you have a performance with real impact.
With their respectively distinguished pedigrees ranging freely across the folk and rock spectrum - and overlapping via several previous projects - each brings a wealth of diverse experience to the table, in a collaboration impelled primarily by that most magical of musical catalysts: pure enthusiasm.
Kris Drever
An award-winning, highly acclaimed solo artist and member of the explosive anarchic and award winning folk trio LAU. A stunning guitarist and singer, Kris Drever shares vocal duties with Roddy Woomble.
John McCusker
Needs no introduction – The successful artist / producer and arranger has appeared on records by the likes of Kate Rusby, Eddi Reader and many more, having released his own albums to both critical and commercial success. John McCusker was nominated for Musician of the Year in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2009.
Roddy Woomble
The lead singer, sharing the writing with Kris Drever and John McCusker. Already known to many hundreds of thousands as the vocalist in IDLEWILD. Roddy Woomble has sold more than half a million albums and his hugely acclaimed folk solo debut ‘My Secret Is My Silence’ continues to find new fans two years after its release.
Heidi Talbot
Ireland has long been a fount of great female singers, but Heidi Talbot’s breakthrough solo release, 2008’s ‘In Love + Light’, swiftly assured her promotion to the premier league. Its artfully chosen mix of traditional and contemporary material, reinvented classics and little-known gems won glowing reviews across three continents, a US Indie Acoustic Award and a Best Female Vocalist nomination in the Irish Music Awards.
